Iraqi Foreign Ministry

Iraq (IP) - The Iraqi Foreign Ministry called the US government's move to sanction the head of Iraq's Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) Falih al-Fayyadh "unacceptable."

Iran Press/Middle East: In a statement, Iraq's Foreign Ministry noted that it would closely monitor all US Treasury Department's decisions against Iraqi figures in contact with the current and future US administrations and address the consequences.

The US Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control announced Friday night that it had placed Falih al-Fayyadh on its sanctions list.

The Political Bureau of Yemen's Ansarullah Movement also strongly condemned the US act against an Iraqi people-oriented organization and said: " We considered it as another hostility added to the list of the US crimes against Iraqi people."

Lebanon's Hezbollah also considered the US sanctions against the Head of Iraq's PMU as a medal of honor for Falih al-Fayyadh due to his fight against terrorism and Daesh, noting that the reason for the sanction is al-Fayyadh's anti-US stance and his emphasis on the need to expel the US occupiers from Iraq.

The head of Iraq's Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), Falih al-Fayyadh, has already called for the expulsion of the foreign forces, on top of them the US troops, from the Iraqi soil based on the Iraqi Parliament's adopted bill.
