Top medical officials across the UK issued a joint statement on Monday evening raising the coronavirus alert level to the highest in the country.

Iran PressEurope: The statement which was published in the British media, said that if the Cocvid-1 restrictions are not tightened to curb the spread of the virus, the UK's health service would be shut down within the next 21 days.

"Many parts of the country's health system are under tremendous pressure," the statement added. The statistics indicate a high rate of infection and a large number of infected patients are admitted to hospitals and intensive care units.

"We are not confident that the National Health Organization will be able to withstand more pressure," the statement said, noting that the coronavirus infection rate is on the rise.

In the last 24 hours alone, 58,784 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus infection in the UK, and 407 people have lost their lives in the same period. This is the sixth day in a row that there have been more than 50,000 new cases of Covid-19 daily.
