Tehran (IP) -  Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani, on January 3, 2020, while traveling to Iraq at the official invitation of the Iraqi authorities, was assassinated in an airstrike by US drones near Baghdad airport, along with Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, deputy head of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Units (al-Hashd al-Sha'abi), and eight others.

Iran Presscommentary: The late Commander of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps, Martyr Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani played a major role in the fight against the enemy, terrorism, the elimination of ISIS, and the thwarting of the separatist plans of the United States and Zionism in the region.

Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, Secretary-General of Hezbollah in Lebanon, in an exclusive interview with Al-Mayadin TV on Sunday, elaborated on the various dimensions of Martyr Soleimani's personality and the lasting effects of his role in strengthening the resistance.

The Lebanese Hezbollah secretary-general said in an interview that Martyr Soleimani was the first to warn of the threat posed to Syria under the pretext of the Arab Spring and for the country's support for the resistance.

Hassan Nasrallah stressed the importance of this warning, noting that if it were not for the Iraqi resistance groups, there would still be 150,000 American officers and soldiers in the country, and the US embassy would run Iraq, contrary to pro-democracy claims and propaganda. Were it not for the Iraqi resistance, ISIS would have won and penetrated the entire region.

Martyr Soleimani, in fact, with full knowledge of the goals and plans that were formed with money, political ability, and influence of the US, rose to thwart and neutralized these plots.

The remarks of Hamid Shahriari, Secretary-General of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, which was delivered on Sunday at the Islamic Conference of Russia, entitled "Unity in the Face of Challenges," refer to the same fact.

The Secretary-General of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought said that the enemies of Islam created ISIS to intimidate Muslims by creating pessimism about Islam and Muslims, and created an excuse called fighting ISIS to stay illegally in Iraq and Syria. In fact, to plunder the vast oil and gas resources of the West Asian region and the Muslim countries of Iraq and Syria.

This issue was also mentioned in detail in the speeches of Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah. Evidence shows that Syria has not been targeted solely for supporting Palestine and the resistance. Syria has been targeted economically, politically, and security-wise for plundering oil and gas in its soil and water and dominating its strategic position.

The fact is that the situation in the region and the political and military equations have changed, and the nations and governments arising from the nations' aspirations do not tolerate the presence of the United States and these interventions. The American crime in the assassination of General Qasem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis is an example of the result of the American presence in the region.

Regional developments, however, now have entered a decisive and sensitive stage, which is the result of two main and determining currents. On the one hand, there are the hegemonic actions combined with madness and terrorism and the disintegration of Islamic lands with the aim of plundering the resources and wealth of Islamic countries and stabilizing the Zionist regime's occupation of Beit-ul-Moqaddas and Palestine, and on the other hand, the Islamic awakening, resistance, and neutralization of this conspiracy.

In this process, the superiority and legitimacy of the resistance movement have been proven, and the martyrdom of the pioneers in the area of resistance, such as General Qasem Soleimani, has guaranteed the continuation and success of the resistance movement against the conspiracies of the enemies.
