Why it matters:
The remarks — linking today’s soft war to historical hostility toward the rule of Imam Ali (AS) — define internal cohesion and public morale as decisive battlegrounds and underline psychological warfare as a central national security threat.
What he's saying:
Addressing families of the martyrs of the 12‑day war on the anniversary of the birth of Imam Ali (AS) and the sixth anniversary of the martyrdom of General Qasem Soleimani, Ayatollah Khamenei described justice and piety as the two highest and most essential pillars for governing a society.
He said that after suffering military defeat against Imam Ali, enemies resorted to lies, deception, slander, and rumor-mongering in an attempt to weaken public motivation and prevent the realization of justice.
The Leader emphasized that Imam Ali implemented justice through compassion and service to the vulnerable, decisive force when required, and clear speech, wisdom, and explanation—describing him as the source of the “jihad of clarification.”
Ayatollah Khamenei also said that the primary objective of the enemy’s soft war is to demoralize the nation, deny Iran’s capacities, and push society toward humiliation and submission.
He emphasized that the strength of the Iranian people forced the enemy to seek a halt to fighting, adding that Iran does not trust the words of deceitful and hostile powers.
He also said the 12‑day war revealed the true nature of the United States, noting that even those who believed negotiations were a solution realized that Washington was preparing for war while talks were underway.
The Leader said merchants’ protests over the depreciation of the national currency are legitimate, noting that economic instability makes normal business difficult and unsustainable. He added that the president and senior officials acknowledge the problem and are working to resolve it.
However, he condemned the presence of hostile or manipulated elements who aim to exploit these protests by promoting anti‑Islamic, anti‑Iran, and anti‑Islamic Republic slogans.
He drew a clear distinction between rightful protest and unrest, emphasizing that officials must address legitimate grievances while firmly confronting those who seek to create insecurity and disorder.
