People in the United States have staged a weekend national protest to condemned growing gun violence.

The protests in US are called a National Day of Gun Violence Awareness.

Wear Orange Weekend begins Friday as more than 400 events took place across the US through the weekend in honour of National Gun Violence Awareness Day. 

In the wake of the Parkland school shooting, the issue of gun violence is stronger than ever, especially among the youth.

Gun violence survivors, family members, activists, students and members of the local communities have participated in the events.

17 students and staff were killed in February in deadly mass shooting at a high school in Parkland, Florida.
