Iran PressAmerica: Referring to the ceasefire agreement in Libya, at a meeting on Tuesday, the UN Security Council called for the withdrawal of all foreign mercenaries and armed men from Libya.

The UN Security Council also stressed the importance of a credible and active Libyan-led mechanism for monitoring the ceasefire.

Since the fall of dictator Muammar Gaddafi, Libya has been embroiled in internal tensions with the intervention of the US and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

Libya has two parallel states in the east and the capital Tripoli.

General Khalifa Haftar's forces control parts of the east of the country and are backed by Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the UAE, as well as several Western governments, including France.

The western part is controlled by the Fayez al-Sarraj as the head of the National Accord of Libya government which is approved by the United Nations. 219
