Protesters turned Cape Town’s promenade into a sea of Palestinian flags as they protested the Zionist regime’s continued targeting of journalists amidst the ongoing genocide.

Why It Matters:
Some 30 organizations and groups joined the protest, demanding an end to the ongoing onslaught in Gaza. A key factor raised in the protest is the continued attempts to black out any form of information emerging from the besieged strip. Senior clergy, political activists, medics, and academics were among those who participated. They expressed concern about the extent of Israel’s impunity and the continued refusal by nations that wield international power to end the unfolding genocide perpetrated by Israel.

Key Points:

  • A diverse range of sectors, representing the general public and more than 30 organizations, participated in the demonstration.
  • Calls for an end to the Gaza genocide and targeting of media were emphasized.
  • Protesters raised concerns about the West’s refusal to condemn Israel’s atrocities and use their power to halt the genocide.
