Highlighting the blatant violations of the principles of the UN Charter and international law by the Zionist regime amid Iran-U.S. talks, Araghchi stated that just two days prior to the sixth round of talks in Muscat, the Israeli regime violated Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity by launching attacks on nuclear facilities and residential areas in Iran.
He said, “It is clear that the primary objective of the [Israeli] regime in this aggression was to undermine diplomatic processes and to drag others into an unjust war.”
Iranian FM also referred to the repeated attacks of the Zionist regime on residential areas in Iran and the killing of numerous innocent women and children and noted:
“Responding to aggression is an act of legitimate defense. In order to safeguard Iran’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and to protect its citizens, the Iranian armed forces have conducted thoroughly calculated defensive operations, which will resolutely continue until this regime’s acts of aggression cease."
Spanish Foreign Minister, for his part, expressed regret over these attacks and the loss of lives, voiced concern about the escalation of tensions in the region. He affirmed Spain’s readiness to engage in any cooperation in this regard."
