Former diplomat: Biden will challenge Iran if he wins

Tehran (IP) - Iran's former Envoy to the United Nations Gholam-Ali Khoshroo said although the Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden has stated that he will adhere to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), if he wins against Donald Trump, he will challenge Iran on regional issues.

Iran PressIran News: Speaking in a webinar titled "US Elections and Their Consequences" in Tehran on Thursday, Khoshroo added that US policies in the region, including Syria, Afghanistan, Yemen, and Iraq, have failed.

The former Iranian envoy to the United Nations said that if Biden becomes US president, there is probably no need to renegotiate on JCPOA. The agreement was signed after lengthy negotiations by senior officials of world powers and approved by the UN Security Council, and it is still valid.

Khoshroo added US President Donald Trump's anti-Iranian policies and 'maximum pressure' on Iran have resulted in the US isolation globally.

The US presidential election will be held on November 3, 2020.
