Tehran (IP) - The Iranian and Iraqi health ministers stressed the need to establish a joint committee to hold the glorious mourning ceremony in Arbaʽeen.

Iran Press/Iran News: Iran's Minister of Health and Medical Education Saeed Namaki in a telephone conversation with Iraqi Minister of Health Hassan al-Tamimi on Thursday, referred to the outbreak of the COVID-19 and the need to follow health guidelines, saying Muslims prove to the world that they love Imam Hussain (AS) and that it is important for them to maintain the health of the people and the lovers of Imam Hussain.

Namaki also stressed the need to expand cooperation between Tehran and Baghdad to put an end to COVID-19 and hoped that in the near future, with the eradication of this disease, Muslims will be able to visit the holy shrines again.

The Iraqi minister of health also expressed satisfaction with the reduction of cases and deaths due to COVID-19 in Iran and said: "Baghdad continuously uses Tehran's experience to manage coronavirus disease."

Al-Tamimi said that an average of 4,000 people in Iraq gets infected with COVID-19 every day and there are problems with COVID-19 disease susceptibility.

The Iraqi minister of health appreciated the support of the minister of health of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Iraq and hoped that it would be continued during the occasion of Arbaʽeen.

Arbaʽeen marks the 40th day of martyrdom of Imam Hussein (PBUH) and 72 of his companions in 680 AD in a land known today as Iraq after they refused to pledge allegiance to the tyrant Yazid.
