Tehran (IP)- The Head of Iran’s Food and Drug Administration (IFDA) Mohammad Reza Shanehsaz in the Eighth Conference on Dietary Supplements and Ninth Green Gold Conference said that our country was proud of the anti-COVID-19 campaign amid the difficult conditions of coronavirus outbreak by the efforts of the drug manufacturers.

Iran PressIran News: Emphasizing on the use of domestic capacities and facilitating production he added that the production of medical packages in the Food and Drug Administration was 24 million and 750,000 in the last three years that the rate has grown rapidly in the next year to 55 million and only in the first quarter of the current Iranian year (starting on March 21) it became 45 million packages.

"The import of sports supplements has declined sharply in recent years, in which we have 174 million $ imports in the last three years and the next year it was 105 million$ and in the first quarter of the year it became 8 million, Shanesaz stated.

IFDA officials expressed hope that the manufacturers use the commercial capacity for export.

"We are trying to produce herbal medicines and supplements amid the global progress to improve patients in the country," Shanesaz concluded.

"Coronavirus serves to be a maneuver for more production," said Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade of Iran Mahdi Sadeqi Niyaraki in the Eighth Conference on Dietary Supplements and Ninth Green Gold Conference.

 Sadeqi Niyaraki stressed that the developed countries could not contain coronavirus at high cost while Iran controlled it with self-reliance and local management.

Referring to the fact that goods import was 80% but now the production is 80%, he added that" we need to increase the raw materials and accessories in the pharmaceutical industry."

Deputy Minister of Sport and Youth in Cultural, Education, and Research Affairs, Abdolhamid Ahmadi also said in this conference, coronavirus has changed the world's situation and consequently, all sports activities have been canceled.

"One of the challenges in championship sports is the use of energizing drugs, which has negative effects on athletes, and the community of athletes should be informed about the use of these drugs", he added.

At the end of the conference, producers of medicines and herbal supplements, especially pharmaceutical activists and anti-coronavirus advocates were glorified.
