FM Zarif leaves Tehran for Ankara

Tehran (IP) - Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif left Tehran for Turkey on Sunday evening at the head of a delegation to hold talks with Turkish officials.

Iran Press/Iran news: The top diplomat is scheduled to hold talks with Turkish officials on bilateral relations and international affairs.

It has earlier been said that Iran's Foreign Minister will travel to Turkey and Russia heading a security-military delegation.

According to a statement of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu will also travel to Turkey on Sunday (June 14th) with the accompany of a military-security delegation.

Turkish and Russian officials are expected to discuss regional issues during their meetings.

Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyyed Abbas Mousavi had also said Mohammad Javad Zarif would travel to Ankara and Moscow on Sunday and Monday to meet his counterparts on the latest developments in bilateral relations as well as the most important regional and international issues.

On April 7, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad In a telephone conversation with his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu voiced the Islamic Republic of Iran’s readiness to provide whatever assistance and cooperation necessary in the fight against COVID-19.

The two top diplomats also discussed the bilateral cooperation between Tehran and Ankara in the fields of transportation and transit of goods.
