Tehran (IP) - Iran is the world's fifth-largest citrus fruit producer and one of the top 10 countries in the production of one-third of the world's agricultural products.

Iran Press/Iran News: Iran is the fifth-largest citrus producer in the world and has a good advantage for production due to its diverse four-season climate as well as the cultivation of the best type of citrus.

Citrus fruits are produced in seven provinces of Iran and Mazandaran province is the main production hub with 1.5 to 1.7 million tons per year, followed by Golestan, Gilan, Hormozgan, and Kerman. 

Brazil, China, the United States, and Mexico are the four major producers of citrus fruits, with the annual production of about 20, 19.6, 10, and 6.8 million tons, respectively. 

Citrus fruits are an excellent source of vitamin C, calcium, and Potassium. They are a good source of fiber and contain nutrients that boost heart health.
