Tehran (IP) - Deputy Head of Army for Coordination underscored that a people-oriented army means that it can use its capacity to help the nation in any crisis, keeping its readiness to confront threats anywhere and under any circumstance.

Iran PressIran News: In an exclusive interview with Iran Press on the sidelines of the 'Parade of Service' in Tehran on the occasion of ‘Army Day’ about the nature of a people-oriented army on Friday, Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari referred to Article 144 of the Constitution, saying the article asserts Iran’s Army is people-oriented and based on Islamic Revolution's ideology. 

Sayyari highlighted that a people-oriented army is one that along with its military and deterrence power, takes measures to help people such as it did so in the flood-hit areas Khuzestan, Lorestan, and Golestan provinces.

He pointed to the coronavirus outbreak and noted that the army attended to help people across the country along with the medical staff.

The 'Parade of Service' was conducted on the occasion of the Islamic Republic of Iran's ‘Army Day’ in Tehran and across Iran on Friday morning with the slogan ‘Defenders of Homeland and Assistants of Health’.

The aim of the parade is to fight the COVID-19 outbreak which has brought many social, economic and health challenges to the whole world. 

During the March some COVID-19 combating equipment unveiled and put on public display.

April 17 in the Iranian calendar has been named as the national day of the Army.
