Tehran (IP) - Iran's Health Ministry Spokesman said that despite some cruel measures taken by some of the countries and their allies against the great nation of Iran, helps received by others in the fight against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is appreciated.

Iran PressIran News: Speaking at his daily news conference on Sunday, Kianoush Jahanpour said via video conferencing that the relief sent to Iran is worthy of appreciation.

Answering the question raised by Iran Press' correspondent, Jahanpour said: "Iran appreciates the approach taken by helping countries such as China and some Europeans for sending laboratory test kits as well as other equipment."

Referring to the fact that the total relief provided by some of the countries all around the world cannot be considered noticeable when compared to the items being used in the country, the health official appreciated those states who were thinking of Iran and stand by the Islamic country.

“At the time when some countries are putting the pressure on Iranian women, children, and patients by exerting sanctions, others are helping which is great,” he concluded.

Ever since quitting the multilateral 2015 nuclear deal with Iran in May 2018, US President Donald Trump has been running what he refers to as a “maximum pressure” of sanctions against Tehran.

The American sanctions target both Iran and its international partners, including European countries that seek to engage in trade with the Islamic Republic.

So-called secondary sanctions target foreign companies that do business with Iran. Affected countries, including China, say those bans violate their sovereignty because their bilateral interactions with Iran are targeted by a third country, namely the US.

Coinciding with field-medical and research-medical efforts, Iran is moving forward in the fight against the virus despite cruel and illegal US sanctions.

The new respiratory virus, known officially as COVID-19, has spread to every continent except Antarctica as well as every single European country.

The number of diagnosed cases globally has surpassed 300,000 with more than 13000 deaths, according to data compiled by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University. Over 95,000 people with diagnosed cases have recovered.

According to the latest figures by Iran's Health Ministry, 7,913 people out of a total of 21,638 infected by the coronavirus have survived the deadly disease while 1,685 have unfortunately succumbed to death.
