House to vote on sending Trump impeachment articles to Senate

The US House of Representatives will vote on Wednesday on sending articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump to the Senate, Democrats said.

Iran Press/America: The Democratic-led United States House of Representatives will vote on Wednesday 15 January to send formal impeachment charges against President Donald Trump to the Senate, lawmakers said on Tuesday, bringing the start of Trump's trial one step closer.

According to NBC News, The US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told a party meeting that she would also name the House "managers" who will lead the prosecution of Trump at the trial, Democratic US Congressman Henry Cuellar said.

The House passed two articles of impeachment against Trump last month. The first charged the president with abusing his power by pushing Ukraine to announce investigations of former Vice President Joe Biden, his son Hunter Biden and Democrats as the president withheld nearly $400 million in military aid to the country and an official White House visit for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy. The second article charged Trump with obstructing Congress' investigation into the matter.
