Israeli regime closes Ibrahimi Mosque to Muslims

Israeli troops forced out Palestinians from the Ibrahimi Mosque in the West Bank city of Al-Khalil (Hebron) after Zionist settlers stormed into the mosque to celebrate a Jewish holiday.

Iran PressMiddle East: Local media said the settlers have set up tents around the mosque in a bid to insult Muslims who visit the complex revered both by Muslim and Jewish worshippers but divided after the 1994 massacre of 29 Palestinians by a Zionist settler.

The Ibrahimi Mosque is located in Al-Khalil's old enclave and is believed to be the burial sites of prophets Ibrahim (Abraham), Ishaq (Issac) and Yaqub (Jacob).

Al-Khalil is home to about 400 settlers who are guarded by 1500 Israel troops while some150,000 Palestinians live in the city.
