First Vice President Jahangiri talks to Iraqi officials on phone

Iran's first vice president, Es'haq Jahangiri has thanked the Iraqi government and people for hosting millions of Imam Hossein's pilgrims.

Iran Press/ Middle East: Jahangiri who is in Iraq to take part in the massive march of Arbaeen, in separate phone calls, talked to the Iraqi president, Barham Salih and the country's prime minister, Adil Abdul-Mahdi.

Referring to the visit of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani to Iraq and Barham Salih's visit to Tehran, Jahangiri expressed hope that the agreements between the two countries would be implemented as soon as possible.

In this phone call, Barham Salih emphasized his country's comprehensive efforts to implement the agreements reached with Iran.

In his phone call with the Iraqi prime minister, Jahangiri appreciated Iraqi people and government for their hospitality and services to pilgrims of Imam Hossein, stressing that the event has become a symbol of power, strength and unity of the Muslim world.

For his part, the Iraqi prime minister emphasized the importance of march of Arbaeen and appreciated the presence of Iran's vice president in the event.

He also called for extensive planning to strengthen relations between Tehran and Baghdad.
