Iran Press/Iran news: Sistan and Balouchestan Governor Ahmad Ali Mohebati, while visiting the Mirjaveh border, noted that more than 10,000 Pakistani pilgrims had arrived in Iran in just one day.
The official went on to say that some infrastructure and facilities at the border of Mirjaveh will be anticipated and will be planned for the coming years, Iran Press reported.
Arbaeen or (the fortieth day) is a Shia Muslim religious observance that occurs forty days after the Day of Ashura, the martyrdom anniversary of Chief of Martyrs, Imam Hussein (PBUH).
It commemorates the martyrdom of Hussain ibn Ali (as), the grandson of the Islamic prophet Muhammad (PBUH), who was martyred on the 10th day of the month of Muharram. Imam Hussain and 72 of his companions were martyred by their enemy in the Battle of Karbala in 61 AH (680 CE).
According to official Iraqi sources, about 14 million pilgrims, including more than 2 million Iranians last year, took part in the march of Arbaeen, which is the largest annual religious gathering in the world.
