Iranian and Azerbaijani presidents in a telephone conversation stress development of brotherly ties between Tehran and Baku.

Iran Press/ Iran news: Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in a phone call to his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev on Monday, described relations between the two countries as friendly, brotherly and developing.

Stressing the efforts of the two countries' authorities for further development of relations, Rouhani offered the Azerbaijani government and nation congratulations on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, Iran Press reported citing the official website of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

"Fortunately, the progress of relations and cooperation between Tehran and Baku is developing and positive," Rouhani said.

He also described visits by Iranian and Azerbaijani authorities and ministers as effective in deepening relations between the two countries and expressed hope that the process of implementing agreements will accelerate.

"The Republic of Azerbaijan has always been a friendly and brotherly country for Iran and this friendship between the two nations will further deepen," he reiterated.

During the same phone call, President Ilham Aliyev of the Republic of Azerbaijan also offered the Iranian government and nation congratulations on Eid al-Adha, saying: "Close Iran-Azerbaijan relations is the result of both sides' efforts."

He added: "There is no doubt that relations between the two countries and nations will be better than before and developing".
