Iran Press/ Iran news: During a meeting with Hamdollah Moheb, Afghanistan's national security adviser in Tehran on Tuesday, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif called Tehran's support for Kabul a principled policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Zarif stressed the need to deepen consultations between Iran and Afghanistan's two friendly and neighboring countries at bilateral, regional, and international levels.
He also expressed satisfaction with the opening of the Khaf-Herat railway. He assessed it as a ground for expanding cooperation between the two countries and faster communication with the eastern regions.
The head of Iran's diplomatic service also stressed the withdrawal of the US and other foreign troops from Afghanistan.
The National Security Advisor of Afghanistan also presented a report on the latest developments related to the peace talks and appreciated the Islamic Republic of Iran's positions in support of the government and the people of Afghanistan.
Referring to the Khaf-Herat railway opening, Hamdullah Moheb also expressed hope that regional cooperation with such connecting routes would be strengthened.
Cooperation in the political, economic, and security fields, holding a joint commission of the two countries and pursuing other projects, especially more cooperation in water, has been announced as other topics of talks between the Iranian Foreign Minister and the Afghan National Security Advisor.
The National Security Adviser to the President of Afghanistan arrived in Tehran on Tuesday at the invitation of the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran for a one-day visit.
