Iran Press/ America: Russian President Vladimir Putin announced last Saturday that the country will deploy medium-range nuclear weapons in the country after an agreement with Belarus.
According to him, this decision does not violate the resolutions of the United Nations on the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons.
Vassily Nebenzia, Russia's ambassador and permanent representative to the United Nations, on Friday at the Security Council meeting on the issue of the deployment of nuclear weapons in Belarus, added: "Moscow will deploy tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus without violating its international obligations on the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons."
China calls upon the nuclear powers not to deploy nuclear weapons abroad and urges them to withdraw their nuclear weapons already stationed in foreign countries, China’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Geng Shuang, said on Friday at a UN Security Council session.
"We also stand for the cancellation of the nuclear sharing agreements (on US tactical nuclear weapons in Europe - TASS). We stand for the non-deployment of nuclear weapons abroad by any nuclear power whatsoever," the diplomat said. "In addition, we stand for the withdrawal of nuclear weapons stationed in other countries."
According to Geng, certain assurances are necessary to maintain global stability.
