Iran Press/ Iran News: The Governor of the Central Bank of Iran, in a written response to Bloomberg questions, addressing IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva, said that the United States does not manage the International Monetary Fund. Rather, it is the fund's management and board of directors that oversees the fund's operations and ensures that the IMF acts in accordance with its commitments.
Hemmati added that Iranians, like Americans and Europeans, have lost many people.
“Central Bank reserves are under US sanctions overseas, which is illegal and unilateral, and I want to be clear about this. What we are saying is that the sanctions should be lifted altogether, however, sadly, there are actors in the US government that have little regard for international law and order,” Hemmati reiterated.
Iran's request for a $ 5 billion loan from the fund was sent to the head of the International Monetary Fund on March 6 with the signature of Abdol Naser Hemmati, governor of the Central Bank of the Islamic Republic, but during a review of countries' requests, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Washington opposes the Islamic Republic's request and will its veto if necessary.
