The Canadian state approved a human rights resolution against Iran in an annual attempt as it formed the session in the Third Committee of the UN General Assembly on Wednesday evening.
Esmail Baghaee condemned the anti-Iranian resolution as an Israeli-cooked plot and considered it a great political and moral scandal for the Western parties of the project and a sign of devaluing the high concept of human rights in the international bodies.
Baghaee described the hostile resolution as the full manifestation of the drafters' malice and a clear sign of relegating the noble concept of human rights to a tool for exerting political pressure against independent nations.
The Islamic Republic of Iran, as a democratic system established based on the fundamental policies in its Constitution, considers itself obligated to preserve and promote human rights while fulfilling its international obligations and constructive interaction with the UN human rights mechanisms, he stressed.
Meanwhile, the Iranian envoy to the UN Zahra Ershadi announced in a statement that the Islamic Republic of Iran would decisively reject the unfair resolution against the country.
She stressed that the resolution was selective, biased, and hypocritical by nature.
The anti-Iranian resolution won just 77 votes in favor; 28 states opposed the resolution, 66 announced abstention, and 22 states were absent.
