AEOI Chief:

Tehran(IP)- The head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) stressed that Bushehr nuclear power plant's electricity production exceeded 60 billion kilowatt-hours.

Iran PressIran News: The Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant (BNPP) is Iran’s first commercial nuclear reactor. In 1994, Tehran and Moscow signed an agreement to construct the VVER 1000MWe light-water reactor, and construction started the same year.

Mohammed Eslami, the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, said: "Today, Bushehr nuclear power plant's electricity production reached more than 60 billion kilowatt hours, and thus it can be said that the equivalent of 90 million barrels of oil has been saved."

Members of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of Iran's Parliament met and discussed with the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran.

Eslami said in the meeting: "The development and expansion of all nuclear technology topics will bring this technology into people's lives and have an impact on the national economy."

Continuing the meeting with the members of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of Parliament, he added: "During this period, efforts were made to manage the interaction with the International Atomic Energy Agency more than before."

Eslami also said:" In 1401 (2022), we were able to achieve 159 scientific, technological and industrial achievements. An incident that showed a lively and continuous movement towards the conclusion of research and turning it into industrialization."

The head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran noted: "We have the completion of phases 2 and 3 of the Bushehr nuclear power plant on agenda, which needed to be accelerated."
