Tokyo (IP) - The Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs called it necessary for Tehran and Tokyo to promote bilateral cooperation in the field of medicine and medical- pharmaceutical equipment.

Iran PressAsia: With a history of more than 90 years of political and economic relations, Iran and Japan have good relations with each other.

Iran's foreign minister arrived in Tokyo on Sunday night local time for an official visit and meeting with senior Japanese officials, and was welcomed by the officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.

Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, in a meeting with Katsunobu Kato, Japan's Minister of Health, Labor and Social Welfare in Tokyo, described the unilateral sanctions of the United States unlawful, and stressed the need to promote Iran- Japan cooperation in various fields, especially the mechanism of participation of Japanese companies in sectors, including medical- pharmaceutical equipment and medicine.

Amir- Abdollahian described the political relations between Iran and Japan and mutual cultural respect between the two sides as important, saying: "Donation of vaccines by the Japanese government during the coronavirus outbreak was a valuable measure."

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran also elaborated on the country's progress in the field of new technologies, especially in the field of medicine.

Katsunobu Kato, the Minister of Health, Labor and Social Welfare of Japan, referred to the presence of the Iranian Foreign Minister on the 78th anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, stressing the opposition of the Japanese people to weapons of mass destruction.

Katsunobu Kato emphasized the importance of cooperation between the two countries, especially in the field of medicine, and expressed his satisfaction with the progress of Iran in the field of new medical technologies.

The Minister of Health, Labor and Social Welfare of Japan said he is hopeful that there is a long and historical relation between Tehran and Tokyo.
