Iran Press/ Middle East: The Islamic Republic of Iran launched the project of building the courtyard of Hazrat Zahra, among other projects to reconstruct the holy shrines of Iraq.
The project of Hazrat Zahra courtyard, including the library complex, started in 2012 under the supervision of Martyr Lt. Gen. Qasem Soleimani.
Located at Hazrat Zahra Court of the shrine, the complex is 3,700 square meters large and has a capacity to accommodate 1.2 million books.
The building has five floors; one is allocated to the students and researchers, one floor specific for women, and another specified for the blind, with brailed books.
The two other floors also include an auditorium hall as well as a place for the restoration and preservation of old manuscripts.
Once during the 8th–9th centuries AH, Iraq's Baghdad flourished into an unrivaled intellectual center of science, medicine, philosophy, and education in the Islamic civilization era.
Baytul-Hikmah, or the "House of Wisdom," was among the most well-known academies and had the largest selection of books in the world by the middle of the 9th century.
