Iran Press/ West Asia: The US-Iraq Higher Military Commission resumed its dialogue Sunday on ending the US-led international coalition's mission in Iraq.
The meeting was convened “to assess the military situation, the level of danger, and to establish a timetable for a gradual reduction ending the mission of the coalition forces in the country,” Iran Press quoting Iraqi News Agency reported.
Maj. Gen. Yahya Rasool, the spokesperson for the commander-in-chief of the Iraqi Armed Forces, said that “based on these meetings, a timetable for a deliberate and gradual reduction will be formulated, leading to the conclusion of the mission of the international coalition forces.”
The spokesman of the Commander-in-Chief of the Iraqi Armed Forces added: As long as no incident disrupts these meetings, the negotiations will be conducted regularly so that the task assigned to this committee can be completed as soon as possible.
Following the crimes of the Americans in the attack on the bases of the resistance group and the assassination of the commanders of the Popular Mobilization Organization, the expulsion of the American military and foreign forces has become the main demand of the people, political and religious currents of Iraq.
American occupying forces have been stationed in Iraq since 2003, and their largest base is Ain al-Asad in Al-Anbar province in the west of this country.
The Americans have also deployed several military forces and defense systems at their embassy in the heavily guarded area in the heart of Baghdad.
