Tehran (IP) - In response to the recent action by Austria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which summoned Iran’s ambassador to Vienna, the Austrian Ambassador to Tehran, Wolf Dietrich Heim, was summoned today by the Director-General for Western Europe at Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Iran PressIran News: During the meeting, the Director-General emphasized that Hezbollah is a liberation and anti-occupation movement, actively and effectively participating in Lebanon's political structure, with an official presence in both the government and parliament.

The Director-General also strongly protested against the Austrian Foreign Ministry's actions, stating that this questionable move contradicts the realities of the region and the nature of the bilateral relations between the two countries.

Earlier today, a spokesperson for Austria's Ministry of Foreign Affairs told the Austrian news agency APA that Abbas Bagherpour Ardakani, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Austria, had been summoned due to what was described as "the public display of Hezbollah symbols."

According to APA, Austria's Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement condemning the use of the Hezbollah flag in a tweet posted by the Iranian ambassador. The news agency claimed that Bagherpour had posted a message on his social media account on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, expressing support for Hezbollah’s retaliatory attack against the Israeli regime the previous Sunday. The post allegedly included the Hezbollah flag and the message, "Hezbollah will prevail."
