Iran Press/Iran News: The Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, Ali Shamkhani in a meeting on the assassination of Martyr Soleimani, said that the people of the world should be grateful for the efforts and sacrifices of the real heroes against terrorism because of the sincere efforts of Martyr Soleimani and Martyr Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the spread of Takfiri terrorism in all parts of the world was ceased.
Iranian General and the late Commander of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps, Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani, Deputy Head of Iraq's Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis along with eight others of their allies were assassinated in an air raid by the US forces near Baghdad International Airport on Friday, 3 January.
IRGC Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani had traveled to Iraq on the official invitation of the Iraqi officials.
On 8 2020, in response to the terrorist act of assassinating Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani and Mahdi Abu Muhandis and their companions, Islamic Revolution Guard Corps fired missiles at Ain al-Assad US airbase in Iraq.
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei described the attack as a “slap in the face” for the Americans and Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif called it a "proportionate measure" which came "in self-defense".
