Iranian Parliament Speaker who has traveled to Antalya to participate in the General Assembly of the Asian Parliaments met with his Turkish counterpart.

Iran Press/Asia: The meeting between Ali Larijani and Mustafa Sentop, Iranian and Turkish Parliament Speakers was held behind closed doors on the sideline of the 12th Plenary Meeting of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA), which started earlier on Saturday.

As the largest assembly after the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) consists of 56 parliaments out of which 42 are permanent members and 14 are observers.

Ali Larijani praised the Speaker of the Turkish Parliament for hosting the General Assembly of the Asian Parliaments, and added, "Turkey and Iran are two important countries in the region and we have friendly and sincere relations," Iran Press reported.

Larijani continued, "We discussed in detail with Dr. Sentop bilateral relations and the development of economic relations between the two countries, and we had a very close look at the important regional issues and the two countries being active in creating sustainable regional security".

"I hope that this close cooperation between the two parliaments could benefit the two major nations of the region, Iran and Turkey" he noted.  101/211
