Khuzestan (IP) - The Police Chief of Khuzestan, northwest of Iran, reported dismantling a weapons and ammunition trafficking gang in operation.

Iran PressIran news: Brigadier General Mohammad Salehi said after an intelligence campaign, a heavy cargo of ammunition was detected to be transferred from Baneh, the western border of Iran, to Khuzestan province for creating insecurity.

General Salehi said the gang consisted of four smugglers having two vehicles, who were identified and arrested in Khuzestan's Andimeshk.

With the vehicles investigated, 11,600 pistole bullets, 7,200 Kalashnikov rifles, two walkie-talkies, and a large amount of anti-chasing stuff, including special nails. 

"People's safety is the police's red line, and anyone who intend to harm it will be confronted with strictly according to the law," General Mohammadi stressed.
