Iran PressAsia: In an interview with Ria Novosti, he praised Iran's positions regarding the peace and security in the region, and described it as constructive and responsible.

"Iran is a big country in our region and unlike Turkey, it takes a constructive and responsible position regarding peace and security in the region," Mnatsakanyan said.

Pointing to Iran's initiative for peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Mnatsakanyan said: "At the same time, the Minsk Group co-chairs are the only international format for mediation and negotiation (over this conflict), and their role was reaffirmed in the joint statement of 10 October and subsequent statements of 17 and 25 October."

The Republic of Azerbaijan and Armenia disagree on the Nagorno-Karabakh region.

The two countries' dispute over the Nagorno-Karabakh region began in 1988.
