Tehran (IP): Iran's Minister of Energy described the deluge issue, drought management as a necessary task in the country.

Iran Press/ Iran NewsReza Ardakanian made the remarks at  Khuzestan Province's Planning and Development Council meeting held on Tuesday.

Iranian Minister of Energy said, "If we accept climate change as a phenomenon, that is, climate change issues are accepted, surely in Khuzestan deluge is not an unexpected event and it is a predictable one. We must increase our readiness to reduce the damage and extend the benefits of flooding. Deluges in the category of incidents called natural disasters have been very common in the last twenty years, and consequently, their economic damages are high."

"Both deluge and drought management belong to the interdisciplinary management field. These conditions have forced us to move along interdisciplinary management even for a limited time. Our sacred defense experience is a true experience one in which war and economic sanctions failed to weaken the country," he added.

The minister concluded, "However, if the interdisciplinary approach and centralization are neglected we would fail.  The deluge issue, drought management, ... are serious debates in our country and we must address them considerably."
