Iran's deputy minister of Industry, Mines and Trade, Abbas Ghobadi, has emphasised that US sanctions have not had a significant impact on Iranian exporters, with most managing to retain their customers abroad and only a few experiencing banking and transfer of funds problems.

Iran PressIran news: In an exclusive interview with Iran Press on Tuesday, Iran's deputy minister of Industry, Mines and Trade, Abbas Ghobadi, stressed that his ministry is doing all it can to support and boost the manufacturing and production sector, with staff at the ministry of Industry doing everything they can to support factories, workshops and other production units, and help them in overcoming their problems.

Speaking on the sidelines of second international exhibition of Paper, Cardboard, Cellulose Products and related machinery, Abass Ghobadi, commenting on his ministry's efforts to boost paper and cellulose products production in the country said: "Developing and supporting the manufacturing and production sector is the challenge of all government officials specially staff at the ministry [of Industry, Mine and Trade]. They do whatever they can to remove  obstacles facing factories and manufacturers.

In further comments, Ghobadi said: "Our colleagues investigate and find where the main problems are and help producers get on the right track, producing paper and meeting the country's paper needs".

He added: "Let me assure you, if a product is manufactured here in Iran, we will not import it. Our top priority is boosting production and supporting national production and manufacture."

Commenting on US sanctions, Abass Ghobadi said: "Regarding the impact of sanctions on our exporters, whilst I do not claim that there has been no impact whatsoever, I do say the sanctions have had minimal impact on Iranian exporters. By and large, out exporters have not been significantly affected by US sanctions, and most of our exporters have managed to retain market share and retain their customers, they have managed to preserve their target markets, but a few have had banking difficulties and problems with transfer of money."
