Tehran (IP) - Member of the Iranian parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission says US President Donald Trump is responsible for all the hollow promises he has made to the American people.

Iran Press/ Iran news: Member of Iranian parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Seyyed Hossein Naghavi Hosseini said with the approaching presidential election in America, Donald Trump is expected to honour his promises to the American people.

In an exclusive interview with Iran Press on Monday, Naghavi Hosseini said: "Trump promised the American people to solve the North Korea crisis, to bring Iran back to the negotiating table and to sign a new agreement with Iran replacing JCPOA, to solve the problem of Mexico and to limit the presence of the US military in the world, ending wars abroad and bringing American soldiers back home,  but none of these promises have actually been fulfilled. They were hollow promises."

Naghavi Hosseini pointedly added: "Not only Iran didn't come to the negotiating table, but we also made the US feel the pain of failure."

The Iranian MP reiterated: "The misguided policies of Donald Trump have also dented the American people's national pride."

According to the senior MP, Trump has made a lot of promises and the electoral system of the United States is such that rival candidates would raise these issues and Trump is expected to answer their questions.

The senior parliamentarian added: "Now, the triangle of Trump-Pompeo-Bolton is at a quandary how to face the American public with so many foreign policy failures, and domestic scandals."

Elsewhere in his remarks Naghavi Hosseini described the withdrawal of the US from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) as the biggest mistake that Trump ever made.

He went on to say: "In the case of Iran, the US government can be responsive never to its western allies, nor the international community. In fact, the United States withdrew from the JCPOA with the promise to conclude a better deal with Iran and bring back the country to the negotiating table, but none of these promises came true.

The US also began to put its nose in Persian Gulf affairs by trying to create a new Saddam and supporting tyrants such as Mohammad Bin Salman [the Saudi crown prince], so that he was actually talking about a war on Iranian soil last year, but the killing of the prominent Saudi journalist [Jamal Khashoggi] took the wind out of his sail,  prevented him from further progress."

"While the White House has tried to 'manufacture a crisis', for example the alleged Fujairah attacks on shipping or fires on board oil tankers in the Sea of Oman, accusing Iran of involvement in these incidents, even America's Western allies have not accepted these allegations [against Tehran] and have demanded credible evidence [of Iranian involvement] which America failed to produce."

Naghavi Hosseini added: "Finally, the US sent its spy drone over Iran's airspace and we taught them an unforgettable lesson, by shooting the intruding drone."
