Iran's well-known director Majid Majidi won the best director award at the Konya film festival in Turkey on Saturday.

Iran Press/Iran news: According to a report by Farabi Foundation, the Second Konya International Film Festival screened two films directed by Majidi, IRNA reported.

Addressing the ceremony, Secretary of the festival Abdulsettar Yarar hailed Majidi’s role in making cinematic works with a humanitarian and moral message, and described modern Iranian cinema as 'a messenger of spirituality'. 

This year, the secretariat of the festival invited Majidi to screen two of his films, namely 'The Willow Tree' and 'Children of Heaven' at the festival. The two films were screened and were warmly welcomed by the audience.
