Tehran (IP) - The Spokesman of Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs says that if there is any court of justice in the world, it will certainly try the perpetrators of General Soleimani's assassination.

Iran PressIran news:  In his weekly press conference on Monday, Nasser Kanaani told reporters that the case of the US assassination of Lt. Gen. Soleimani is being pursued both within the country and at the international level by the Foreign Ministry and President's Office. 

Kanaani said that official notes have been sent to the US through the Swiss Embassy in Tehran as the protector of American interests while referring to the Convention 1972.

Assassination of General Soleimani is an international crime

The assassination of General Soleimani is an international crime, and a fair court, if any, must try the mastermind of the assassination, he noted.

As General Soleimani was an international-supported figure and traveled to Baghdad at the invitation of Iraq on an official mission, the context is subject to the provisions of international conventions, and the International Criminal Court can deal with it and issue a verdict.

January 4, 2024, is the 4th martyrdom anniversary of Lt. Gen. Qassem Soleimani the late commander of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

By the direct order of former US President Donal Trump on January 3, 2020, Lieutenant-General Qasem Soleimani was assassinated in Baghdad along with the second-in-command of Iraq's Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis and 8 companions.

Iran's membership in BRICS due to improvement in the world arena

About Iran's joining to BRICS group, Kanaani said that full membership in BRICS is one of the results of the improvement of Iran's position in the world.

He said as of today Iran is considered a full member of BRICS and with the new members joining the international group, it will gain more weight in the global equations. 

By using the capacities of BRICS, Iran will increase its role in international multilateral equations in addition to realizing more of its national interests, the MFA spokesman added.

Iran-China relations to go forward in 2024

Elsewhere, he touched on the future of Iran-China relations and stated that it was a progressing relationship. 

Kanaani said: "Fortunately, we have a very good legal infrastructure in the development of relations between the two countries. The road map of the 25-year comprehensive cooperation between the two countries and the agreements signed on this basis all contribute to this progress." 

The relations will go forward with more speed in the new year 2024.

Zionist regime attacks on Syria are a violation of international law

The spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said: What the Zionist regime is doing against Syria is a violation of international law, and the United Nations Charter, and a violation of the sovereignty of an independent country that is a member of the United Nations.

Answering the questions of journalists in his weekly press conference, he added: Such attacks are condemned based on all international laws, and countries must react to them, and such actions are a threat to world peace.

The spokesperson said: The governments and nations of the region are familiar with such projection and wicked behavior of the Zionist regime.

Iran’s policy on Palestine is clear and precise

The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Iran has a clear and precise status on the Palestinian issue.

While we are consulting with regional parties to end Israeli war crimes in Gaza, we are having consultations on how to help the Palestinian people to solve their problems and to send humanitarian aid, he added.

Pointing out that we believe that is the Palestinian people who make decisions about their future, Kanaani said: We do not trust the US to play any role in Palestinian issues.

Referring to the fact that the US government has repeatedly declared its commitment to the security of the Zionist regime, he emphasized: How can such a government have the necessary qualifications to present political solutions about Palestine?
