Talks between Iran and the P4 + 1 are scheduled for November 29th in Vienna.

Officials in the administration of incumbent President Joe Biden have repeatedly acknowledged the failure of the "maximum pressure" policy in recent months, saying they intend to bring the United States back to the JCPOA. Still, so far, they have refused to take the necessary steps to return to the agreement.

So far, six rounds of talks have been held in Vienna to lift the sanctions against Iran, with the participation of the remaining countries in the JCPOA.

One area of contention in the negotiations is the US' insistence on maintaining some of the sanctions imposed on Iran by the administration of former President Donald Trump after he left the JCPOA. In addition, the Biden administration has stated that it can provide no guarantee that subsequent US administrations will not withdraw from the UN Security Council.

Former US President Donald Trump left the UN Security Council unilaterally and illegally on May 8th, 2018, and put the so-called "maximum pressure" policy on the agenda.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has repeatedly stated that, given that the United States has violated the agreement, Washington must return to the agreement by lifting sanctions and that the fulfillment of US obligations needs to be verified. Tehran, of course, has emphasized that it is not in a hurry to get the United States back to the agreement.
