Tehran (IP) - Iranian Foreign Minister said that the deep-rooted ties between Iran and Pakistan as two great countries in the Muslim world have been the source of hope all these years.

Iran PressIran news: Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian received his Pakistani counterpart Bilawal Bhutto Zardari upon his arrival in Tehran, discussing the expansion of relations and issues of mutual interest.

Amir-Abdollahian, in his joint presser with Pakistani Foreign Minister Blaul Bhutto Zardari on Tuesday, said: "I am very happy to host the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan today. The deep-rooted relations between Iran and Pakistan, two great countries in the Islamic world, have been promising all these years."

He added that the two sides have established a new relationship based on the development of cooperation.

He continued: "Today, we talked about bilateral relations and cooperation and border markets and the development of local trade and provincial cooperation by adopting common approaches and political positions between Tehran and Islamabad."

Iran's Foreign Minister added that the two sides talked about cultural-tourism cooperation in the international arena and economic and trade talks." 

According to Amir-Abdollahian, the two sides discussed the issue of gas exports from Iran to Pakistan and the increase in exports to this country. 

He noted: "Despite US unilateral sanctions, there are mechanisms in the international arena that we hope will be able to continue cooperation in the best possible way."

Amir-Abdollahian said that regional issues such as Afghanistan and Palestine were also the focus of bilateral talks, adding that Iran is against the war in Ukraine and Tehran wants to mediate between Russia and Ukraine to resolve this crisis.

The Iranian Foreign Minister said: "Islamic governments must be united in the face of the Zionist regime's threatening and hostile actions against the Islamic world."

Pakistani FM expresses concern about stability, security in Afghanistan

In a presser after a meeting with his Iranian counterpart, Pakistani Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said: "We are concerned about stability and security in Afghanistan. We have hosted millions of displaced people for four decades and benefited from establishing peace, stability, and prosperity in Afghanistan. 

"At this time, we must support this nation and ask for the release of their blocked resources and for the governing body to move forward in a more inclusive ruling," he added.

Zardari also said his country seeks ways to bring the bilateral relations to the level they deserve. 

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said on Tuesday: "On behalf of the government and people of Pakistan, I would like to convey a message of goodwill and love to the Iranian brothers and sisters. Iran is a neighbor with many interests for Pakistan."

He highlighted border management and the exchange of pilgrims, and cultural communication.

"We are determined to remove the main obstacles to more trade and relations, to have more cross-border trade, to open more border points and to have more border markets, and to provide opportunities to expand economic relations that lead to prosperity. And the prosperity of our nations will be in the border areas," he added.

Pakistan's Foreign Minister added: "We are committed to importing more electricity from Iran. We talked about the possibility of exchanging prisoners." 

He thanked Iran for its unwavering support for the Muslims in Jammu and Kashmir: "We talked about Islamophobia, we must stop xenophobia and Islamophobia and violence. Violence based on religion is not acceptable. We agreed with the Minister to continue the talks and diplomacy will be the ways to achieve peace," Bhutto said. 

Diplomacy best option to reach an agreement

Pointing to the Vienna sanctions removal talks, Iran's Foreign Minister said: "Iran has never escaped the negotiating table, and we believe that negotiation and diplomacy are the best ways to reach an agreement."

"Important steps were taken in [Ali] Bagheri's talks with [Enrique] Mora and the P4 + 1 in Vienna. The messages were exchanged between Iran and the United States during this time, showing that we are in talks and in favor of a good, strong and lasting agreement," Amir-Abdollahian noted. 

"While the United States is sending messages to Iran, it also supports an anti-Iranian resolution in the Board of Governors," he said.

"Iran, in response, increased its nuclear activities, and Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), has informed the Secretariat of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna," the top diplomat highlighted.

At the invitation of Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Pakistani Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is on a visit to Iran from June 14 to June 15.

During his official visit to Tehran on Tuesday, Zardari held a detailed exchange of views with his Iranian counterpart on all areas of mutual interest. The visit is part of regular high-level exchanges between the two countries.

The Pakistani foreign minister is scheduled also to hold a meeting with the Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and other officials.

During the talks ahead, the two sides are supposed to review all aspects of bilateral relations, including trade and economic ties, electricity supply from Iran, border sustenance markets, road and rail transit, and facilitation of pilgrims' access to the holy shrines in Iran.

Both sides are determined to review the regional security status quo with a particular focus on developments in Afghanistan and South Asia.
