Iran FM confers with Syrian, Lebanese counterparts on Gaza

Tehran (IP) - Iran's Foreign minister on Sunday discussed the latest situation in Gaza with his Syrian and Lebanese counterparts on the phone, condemning the international community's silence on Israel's brutal crimes in Gaza.

Iran PressMiddle East: The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in two separate telephone conversations with the Foreign Minister of Syria and Lebanon, condemned the heinous act of the Zionist occupation regime in the shadow of the silence of the international community and some human rights advocates.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza has warned of impending catastrophic repercussions due to intensifying Israeli aggression on the besieged enclave that entered its third day on Sunday.

Since last Friday, various areas of the Gaza Strip have witnessed criminal attacks by the Zionist regime.

Israel began mounting air strikes on Friday against what it described as Islamic Jihad targets in Gaza. At least 32 Palestinians have been killed, and more than 300 others injured.

According to Iran Press, Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and Syria's Foreign Minister Faisal Mikdad exchanged opinions and discussed in a telephone conversation on Sunday the latest developments in Gaza and the criminal actions of the Zionist regime in the mass martyrdom of civilians, especially defenseless Palestinian women and children.

In this telephone conversation, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran, referring to the heinous actions of the Zionist occupation regime, considered such activities in the shadow of the silence of international assemblies and some human rights claimants and strongly condemned them.

Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad also referred to his telephone conversation with the Secretary General of the United Nations regarding the urgent need for international action to prevent the continuance of the aggressive policy of the Zionist regime and condemned the attacks carried out by this regime on the innocent and civilian people of Gaza.

Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, in continuation of his consultations with foreign ministers and international officials on the latest situation in Gaza, had a telephone conversation with Abdullah Bou Habib, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lebanon, and discussed the developments in Gaza.

In this telephone conversation, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran also exchanged views on various issues related to the relations between the two countries and informed his Lebanese counterpart about the latest developments in the Vienna talks to lift sanctions.

Earlier on Sunday, Amir-Abdollahian consulted with Secretary General of the United Nations, António Guterres, and with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani.

In a letter, Iran's Foreign Minister also addressed the catastrophic situation in Gaza to the Islamic countries' foreign ministers, UN Secretary-General, Secretary-General of Islamic Cooperation Organization (OIC), Head of Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), and African Union's Secretary-General.

The UN Special Rapporteur on the Palestinian territories expressed his regret for the new crimes committed by the Zionist regime in the attack on Gaza and emphasized that the intentional killing of Palestinians has now reached a shameful stage.

According to the Iran Press, "Tor Wennesland" said in statements published in the Arab media that the killing of Palestinian people in Gaza continues. As a result of Israeli attacks over the past three days, dozens of people were killed, and hundreds were injured.

He added that the "Israeli regime cannot claim that it is defending itself in this conflict."

The special rapporteur of the United Nations in the occupied territories of Palestine called for the presence of the preventive force of this organization in the occupied territories.
