Iran Press/Asia: Anwar Ibrahim praised Putin for the official invitation of Malaysia to participate in the BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia, and clarified that Malaysia's name was at the top of the list of new BRICS partners, which was accepted and welcomed by the leaders of this group.
Rafizi Ramli, the Minister of Economy of Malaysia, who represented the country's government at the recent BRICS summit in Kazan, announced: Malaysia's acceptance into BRICS will pave the way for Malaysia's presence as an independent country committed to open multilateral international cooperation. It provided global competition in the field of economy and market.
Malaysia was officially recognized as one of the 13 new BRICS partner countries and topped the list of 12 applicant countries including Algeria, Belarus, Bolivia, Cuba, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Nigeria, Thailand, Turkey, Uganda, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam.
Knowing that BRICS is considered as one of the pillars of the multipolar world order, the government of Malaysia became serious about joining this group.
Experts believe that Malaysia is extremely important for BRICS members due to its special strategic location in the Strait of Malacca, which is the connecting point of the two great Pacific Oceans and India and where one-third of the world's crude oil passes.
With 45% of the world's population, BRICS owns 28% of the world economy. A share that is worth 26 trillion and six hundred thousand billion dollars.
