Iran Press/West Asia: Hezbollah in a statement announced that Seyyed Hashem Safiuddin, the head of Hezbollah's executive council, was martyred in an Israeli attack on the southern outskirts of Beirut three weeks ago.
Hezbollah condemned the assassination of Seyyed Hashem Safiuddin by the Israeli regime while stressing that the Lebanese resistance against Israeli occupation would continue stronger than before.
On October 12, the southern suburbs of Beirut were heavily bombarded by the Israeli regime after many analysts pronounced Safiuddin as the possible successor of Martyr Hezbollah General Secretary, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had ordered the assassination of Nasrallah from the headquarters of the United Nations in New York on October 6, with the backing of the United States.
