Iran Press/ Asia: The national men's freestyle wrestling team of the Islamic Republic of Iran, with the participation of 10 wrestlers in 10 weights, was able to win 5 gold and 3 bronze medals by participating in the 2024 Asian Championship freestyle wrestling competition in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
The Iranian freestyle wrestling team, which in this period of the competitions due to the presence of some of its main wrestlers in the Olympic quota competitions, including Ahmad Mohammadnejad Javan, Yunus Emami and Amirali Azarpira and the injury of Hasan Yazdani, participated with a combination of young wrestlers.
The Iranian team, with a young combination of wrestlers was able to win the championship by snatching half of the gold medals. This was despite the fact that the Iranian team had won only one gold medal last year and was third in the team standings.
In the team ranking, Iran won the championship with 190 points, while Japan and Kyrgyzstan came second and third with 130 points and 121 points respectively.
The Asian Championship of Greco-Roman style competition will also start on Monday in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, and the Iranian national wrestling team, the defending champion of this competition, will face its opponents.
