Iran Press/ Iran news: The deputy foreign minister of Iran responded to repeated threats of atomic bombs by Israeli officials during the Gaza war which started on October 7.
Israeli Heritage Minister Amichai Eliyahu said on November 5, 2023 that dropping a “nuclear bomb” on the Gaza Strip is “an option,” according to local media.
Eliyahu, a minister from the far-right Otzma Yehudit party, said that “one of Israel’s options in the war in Gaza is to drop a nuclear bomb on the Strip,” Daily Times of Israel reported.
Reza Najafi, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, held discussions with Fernando Arias, the Director General of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, during a meeting on Monday.
This meeting took place on the sidelines of the annual Conference of States Parties to the Chemical Weapons Convention. The two sides exchanged perspectives on advancing cooperation.
Najafi pointed to the crimes committed by the Zionist regime in Gaza, cautioning against the potential use of chemical weapons by the regime.
He emphasized the importance of monitoring and following relevant developments while urging the Organization to bolster efforts for the Convention's universality.
The diplomat stressed that the Convention's purposes can only be achieved through the complete destruction of all chemical weapons stockpiles.
Najafi also addressed the unilateral sanctions imposed by the United States and its blatant violation of the Convention provisions.
The deputy foreign minister called upon the Director General of the OPCW to persist in efforts to ensure access to necessary medications and medical equipment for chemically injured veterans in Iran.204
