Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyyed Abbas Mousavi

Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman said that the agreement between Yemen's southern separatists, backed by the United Arab Emirates, with forces loyal to Saudi-allied ex-Yemeni president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi seeks to stabilize the occupation of Yemen by Saudi Arabia

Iran Press/Iran news: Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyyed Abbas Mousavi had a backlash to the agreement between Yemen's southern separatists, backed by the United Arab Emirates, with forces loyal to Saudi-allied ex-Yemeni president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, saying: "Signing such agreements won't contribute to solving the problems of Yemen; instead, it will be in line with the stabilization of the direct occupation of Yemen by Saudi Arabia and its allies in southern Yemen or the occupation of its proxy groups."

Referring to the position of the Islamic Republic of Iran on the formation of a united and inclusive Yemeni government based on the Yemeni-Yemeni dialogue, Mousavi emphasized the preservation of the country's unity and territorial integrity, saying: "Yemeni people, who have always fought against the intruders, will not allow the south of the country to be taken over and occupied by foreign forces," Iran Press reported.

He urged Saudi Arabia that if it is serious about its claims to solve the Yemeni problem, rather than deciding on groups that don't have a choice, given the initiative presented by the President of Yemen’s Supreme Political Council Mahdi al-Mashat to stop attacks on the two countries.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran has always maintained that the first step in resolving Yemen's crisis is stopping the war and bloodshed and cruel siege of the country and the Yemeni people and the second step is the Yemeni-Yemeni talks to reach an agreement on the country's political future," the Spokesman noted.

On Friday, September 27, President of Yemen’s Supreme Political Council said the Ansarullah forces would end all attacks on Saudi Arabia provided that the kingdom and its allies end their attacks on Yemen.

Mahdi al-Mashat also hoped that this gesture would be answered by a stronger gesture from the Saudis.

A member of the Yemeni Ansarullah's political council Mohammed al-Bukhaiti said on Oct. 05 that the UAE is pursuing its presence in Taiz, south of Yemen, which is contradictory to the declared policy of leaving Yemen.

Both the UAE-sponsored separatists and the Saudi-backed pro-Hadi militants serve the Riyadh-led coalition and have been engaged, since 2015, in a bloody war against Yemeni people.
