Tehran (IP) - The Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) said the European side of the JCPOA exerts pressure to impose the one-sided implementation of the international agreement on the country.

Iran PressIran news: Iran's international nuclear agreement or the so-called Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) was signed between the country and P5+1 countries (Russia, China, UK, Germany, France, and the US) in 2015, to lift the West's sanctions on Iran, but the US scrapped it on May 18, 2018, re-imposing more sanctions on the country.

Mohammad Eslami told Iran Press on Wednesday that the Head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) says Iran's cooperation with the IAEA does not fulfill its expectations because they are within the farmwork of the JCPOA.

He said: "I told them from the first day that your reading of the agreement is not 'JCPOA' but 'ICPOA' (Iran's Comprehensive Plan of Action); therefore because you don't want to fulfill your commitments jointly, you pressure Iran to fulfill its commitments unilaterally."

All they want is to force Iran to unilaterally fulfill the provision of the JCPOA, Eslami noted and added: "In the JCPOA, when the alleged claims and accusations (against Iran) were close, they were just closed; the JCPOA is a deal; the involved parties have obligations to it."

Referring to the PMD (Possible Military Dimensions) as one of the cases closed, he said: "Now, once again they (IAEA) extracted some information from the JCPOA and putting pressure on the Islamic Republic of Iran, which is the very political current of pressure to disturb the country and gain privileges; it is an illegal and oppressive act."

The Head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization of Iran said the body goes forward while acting under the IAEA's supervision based on its principles and that when all sanctions on Iran are lifted, the country will implement the JCPOA.

Earlier on Wednesday, September 27, the Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) said any pressure from the European side of the JCPOA on Iran to one-sidedly implement the agreement is rejected.

Before he departs from Vienna to Tehran, Mohammad Eslami told Iran Press that the AEOI is fully committed to Iran's Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) within the framework of the safeguard agreed upon in the 2022 winter and the NPT.
