Iran Press/ Africa: In an interview with Iran Press, Ambassador Darwish highlighted the profound and historical ties between Iran and Syria, which extend beyond mere diplomatic interactions. He emphasized the significant impact of President Raisi's untimely death, describing it as a profound loss not only to the enduring alliance between the two nations since the 1979 Iranian Revolution but also to the broader diplomatic community.
"President Raisi's passing is not only a loss due to his role in fostering the long-standing, solid relationship between Iran and Syria but also represents a gap in the strategic diplomatic framework Iran has been known for," Darwish explained.
The Ambassador also praised the synergy between President Raisi and the Iranian Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian. He recalled over 15 years of observing the coherence between Iran's presidency and its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which he noted as particularly effective under President Raisi's tenure.
"His approach, along with Minister Amir-Abdollahian, to international diplomacy was remarkable. It wasn’t just a shift but a major advancement on the right path, one that has been consistent since the inception of Iran's Islamic Revolution," Darwish added.
He concluded by reflecting on the legacy of President Raisi and Minister Amir-Abdollahian, emphasizing the importance of their approach to diplomacy which seamlessly integrated resistance values with diplomatic relations, earning even Western admiration. This legacy, he suggested, offers valuable lessons for today's politicians on maintaining integrity and coherence in their diplomatic engagements.
