Tehran (IP)- Mehdi Yousefi, the Health ministry's Head of Currency Savings Trust in the treatment of patients said that over 85% of the items provided to universities for combating Coronavirus were made domestically and by the knowledge-based companies.

Iran Press/Iran News: Mehdi Yousefi the Health ministry's Head of Currency Savings Trust in the treatment of patients said in a video conferencing presser, "We are working 24/7 to provide protection items against the Coronavirus in the shortest possible time, more than 4 million protective items have been distributed, and 932 ICU beds have been distributed by the order of the Deputy Minister of Health.

He said, "Over 85 percent of the items delivered to the universities have been made by Iran's knowledge-based companies, and 1200 billion tomans have been purchased as guarantied, items such as ventilators are among the items. We have the least problems in the field of production. Our manufacturers have made masking devices and increased the production of masks to three times the prevalence of Corona.

 "Over 85% of the 26 items provided to universities is domestically produced, and devices like CT scans are imported that I hope to have one in the next six months," he added. "One hundred percent of capital goods and respiratory items of Corona patients should be produced in the country", Yousefi underscored. 

He added, "Our situation in the field of manufacturing equipment is good, even in the coming years we will be among the exporters of medical equipment, and in the next month we will be among the exporters in the field of protective equipment."

Referring to the shortage of some protective items in the country, he said, "In the first days of the outbreak of the disease, we had problems that we needed to produce and supply one to five. This is almost in the range of 4 to 5, and in the coming weeks, the needs of our medical centers will be met so that the rest of the items can be distributed to the sales centers and the needs of the people."

Yousefi said, "In the past, 5 ventilators were produced daily, and now 40 ventilators are produced daily in the country. With the increase in production in the country, we came to the conclusion that there is no need to import and 1,200 ICU beds by May 19 to be equipped."
