As reported by the Iran Press News Agency from New Delhi, six earthquakes struck Tibet near the Nepal border from this morning until an hour ago, with the most significant registering at 7.1 on the Richter scale.
The intensity of the earthquake was such that residents in certain Indian states, such as Bihar, Assam, and West Bengal, also experienced its effects, prompting people to take to the streets.
According to the Indian Seismological Center, the initial earthquake was documented at 6:35 a.m. Following this, a second earthquake with a magnitude of 4.7 occurred at 7:02 a.m. at a depth of 10 km, and a third earthquake with a magnitude of 4.9 was recorded at 7:07 a.m. at a depth of 30 km.
So far, there have been no reports of any financial or personal losses in India.
Nepal is located in a geologically active zone, where the subduction zones of India and Eurasia collide to form the Himalayas, making earthquakes a frequent occurrence.
In 2015, a magnitude 7.8 earthquake destroyed more than half a million homes, killed nearly 9,000 people, and injured more than 22,000 others.
